September 20, 2024Charlotte, NC – CRCHC is excited to share that the organization has offered back-to-school supplies and physicals to the children at Shelter Health Services of Charlotte.
Cabarrus Rowan Communities Health Centers sponsors National Health Center Week (August 4, 2024 – August 10, 2024) every year, raising awareness about the mission and achievements of America’s health centers. Community health centers are the core of their communities, providing care and services to those in need. During challenging times, community health centers continue to search for new ways to provide primary health care services. Collaboration with local organizations and volunteers has become a cornerstone of their strategy. By building strong partnerships, they can tap into a wider network of resources and support, enhancing their ability to serve the community effectively.
On Monday, August 5, 2024, the organization initiated the week with “Healthcare for the Homeless Day” by providing complimentary school supplies and physical exams to the children of Shelter Health Services in Charlotte. CRCHC partners with Shelter Health Services to provide Dental, Primary Care, and Behavioral Health Services through its mobile units. “We acknowledge the high cost of school supplies and aim to support the community in any way possible,” said Christina Echevarria, the Mobile Clinic/Special Populations Manager.
By bringing care directly to the community, CRCHC and Shelter Health Services are not only addressing immediate health needs but also fostering a sense of trust and community. “Transportation, affordability, and access to care can be even more challenging for the sheltered population. So, we love the opportunity to bring care to this special population by performing pediatric and back-to-school physicals. This is the role that community medicine serves and it’s the medicine we perform here at CRCHC; breaking barriers to care for all populations.” said Candace Locklear, PA-C.
