Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers (CRCHC) is continuing to grow its presence in Rowan County with the opening of a new on-site pharmacy inside Northern Rowan Family Medicine in Spencer on May 4. The expansion represents an important step forward in delivering more integrated, patient-centered care, all within a single, convenient location.
The new CRCHC Pharmacy, powered by TrueCare Pharmacy, was developed with accessibility and ease of use in mind. By co-locating pharmacy services directly within the clinic, patients are now able to complete multiple aspects of their healthcare visit in one trip. After seeing their provider, they can immediately fill prescriptions on-site, ask questions about their medications, and receive one-on-one counseling from a pharmacist who is already connected to their care team.
This streamlined model is designed to reduce the friction that often comes with managing prescriptions, such as traveling to a separate pharmacy, waiting for medications to be filled, or navigating gaps in communication between providers and pharmacists. Instead, patients benefit from a more coordinated system where clinical care and medication management are closely aligned.
CRCHC leadership emphasizes that this integration is about more than convenience, it is about improving health outcomes through better coordination and communication. When providers and pharmacists work side by side, care decisions can be reinforced in real time, medication concerns can be addressed quickly, and patients receive more consistent guidance throughout their treatment journey.
CRCHC CEO Don Holloman highlighted the significance of the new pharmacy as part of the organization’s broader mission to reduce barriers to care across the region.
“Opening this pharmacy inside Northern Rowan Family Medicine is about simplifying care for our patients and making it more accessible,” said Holloman. “When you can see your provider and fill your prescriptions in the same place, it improves communication, saves time, and ultimately leads to better health outcomes for the people we serve.”
For many patients, especially those managing chronic conditions or multiple prescriptions, having pharmacy services embedded within their primary care clinic can make a meaningful difference. It reduces missed doses, improves medication adherence, and provides a reliable point of contact for questions that might otherwise go unanswered.
The Spencer location also reflects CRCHC’s continued investment in expanding access to high-quality, community-based healthcare throughout Rowan County and surrounding areas. By strategically integrating services, the organization aims to ensure that patients not only receive care, but can more easily follow through with treatment plans that support long-term wellness.
As CRCHC continues to grow, initiatives like the Northern Rowan Family Medicine pharmacy underscore its commitment to building a healthcare model that is local, connected, and centered around the needs of the community.
